Energy Healing

Energy Healing: Science, Why, How

I’d like to start by telling you that I’m a trained medical intuitive and quantum healer. If you’re a skeptic about energy healing, you can stop reading right here. However, if you understand that it works, that there’s more to life than just Newtonian matter, and that energy fields are pervasive in the Universe, then please read on.

In order to really understand what’s going on with energy healing, it’s necessary to deal with some aspects of physics. I’m well aware that many people turn off at this point and would just prefer to believe in energy healing of various kinds. That’s ok, but for people like me, scientifically trained and somewhat skeptical initially, it’s much better to get a little background. In fact, I hope to demonstrate without a shadow of a doubt that energy healing exists and works.

To begin, the medical literature has many instances of spontaneous remissions of supposedly incurable diseases, for example, people who have cured themselves of stage 4 cancers and who should, by all medical experience, be dead. How does this happen? Sometimes it’s by faith alone, but it’s always accompanied by a particular mindset; a different way of looking at things.

Let’s start with some basics. Radio waves, cell phone waves, television, microwaves, satellite radio stations, radar, and on and on are technical adjuncts of our modern civilization. All of these devices radiate energy fields and these fields are everywhere. So are gravity fields. So are the incredibly powerful harmonic fields of energy broadcast by our sun, by other stars, by distant galaxies, by black holes, pulsars, quasars, and so on. We actually are like fish in the ocean. We swim in an ocean of waves.

Two interesting things about all of these waves is that first they are all energy of different frequencies along the electro-magnetic spectrum. If that idea is difficult, what I’m saying is that they’re all light, it’s just that 99.99% of it isn’t visible to our limited eyes. As a comparison, if the total spectrum of energy extended from sea level to the top of Mount Everest, we only are sensitive to about half of an inch of the total.

The second interesting thing is that these fields, this “light” extends infinitely. Physicists tell us that it extends at a rate of about 186,000 miles per second. Everything that exists, animals, plants, even stones, constantly emits light. It might even be said that the Universe is all light. When the Bible states that, “And God said, Let there be light: and there was light,” it’s reaching one of the deepest secrets of creation.

Our bodies also generate patterns of electromagnetic energy that are organized into complex fields. For example, our heart creates the largest and strongest field in our body. It’s been demonstrated that the electromagnetic field from our heart extends our in a doughnut shaped pattern called a torus for feet beyond our body. In fact, this field extends outward from us at the speed of light, so in less than a second, your heart field encompasses the Earth and reaches every human and animal. The only reason scientists state that the heart field is limited is that we currently don’t have instruments sensitive to measure it at extreme distances. It’s true that the field strength does attenuate the farther away from the source it’s measured.

Our bodies also act as antennas that pick up the fields from other people’s bodies. Scientific instruments can sense these fields. If we move our hand near an electro-encephalogram electrode, the EEG will reflect the movement on its graph. If you hold your hand still, the graph also holds steady. If you hold your hand steady, but another person moves their hand near your head, the EEG will show the movement. Your body actually acts as an amplifier because the EEG will show a larger movement when they move their hand, than it would if you weren’t present.

Physical experiments have also demonstrated that we also have the ability to sense other people’s hand motions and even their intentions. I’m not going to go into the experimental details, but we do have that ability. Of course, the ability varies from person to person. Some people seem to be more sensitive than others.

There is a ten-point scale that experimentally predicts sensitivity to energy with a considerable amount of accuracy. The interesting thing about the scale is that the faith-based questions are less predictive than the experiential ones. It’s one thing to believe in life after death, it’s a completely different order of knowledge to have experienced the presence of a deceased loved-one or to have experienced and validated ESP with another living person.

We’ve all had these sorts of moments. You happen to think about Aunt May and then the phone rings and it’s her. If we were to keep a journal of these sorts of events, we’d find that they’re far more common than we normally admit to ourselves.

Some people are very sensitive to such influences and others are not. I happen to be one who used to be not very sensitive. As I’ve progressed in my training, I’ve learned to trust my intuition. For me, ideas just pop into my head and I have to differentiate them from ordinary thoughts. Usually the quickest, first thought is the one that is most correct. As an example, during my medical intuitive training, I was supposed to scan another student. I ignored the first thought I had and proceeded to methodically mentally scan over every aspect of her physical body. Nothing seemed to come up, so I simply told her what I’d first thought, “There seems to be some issue with your blood.” She replied that she was very anemic at that time.

I usually don’t see colors when scanning someone, but other intuitives have a much stronger visual ability and can sense discordant or discolored areas in a patient’s energy field.

The question really then becomes, “How can we learn to better detect energetic fields in other people?” Everything is energy. There is no matter as we’re used to experiencing it. Let’s zoom down through an imaginary microscope to look at a molecule. We see that it’s composed of various atoms arranged in some pattern. When we increase our magnification to focus on an individual atom, we see that it has tiny components. Let’s focus on an electron (assuming that we could actually locate one that would hold still). What we’d see would be a tiny vortex of energy and no matter. So when we lay our hand on a table, it’s actually the energy fields of the table and our hand interacting that make the table feel solid to our touch.

Humans can learn very fine discriminations. Think of wine experts, expert perfumers, and even musicians. We know that people can respond to information that they don’t consciously perceive. This means that we have the ability to learn to perceive energy fields also.

Our medical professionals are now starting to admit to this phenomenon. At this time, many nurses and some physicians have been trained in energy healing. Many physicians have this ability naturally, but have been reluctant to admit it for obvious reasons.

People who have the ability to connect deeply with their environment, for example, to become completely absorbed in music, are more likely to learn to increase their energy sensing accuracy. As for me, personally, I’ve always found that being alone in the woods allows me to expand my awareness to the point that I’m aware of creatures and things which I’d otherwise overlook. It seems that the presence of other people’s energy fields places us into a defensive mental attitude where we actually shut down some of our perception. An obvious example can be seen while walking down a busy street in any large city. People don’t interact and even seem to be unaware of each other except as barriers to their walking path.

Let’s look at our heartbeats. The human heart creates the strongest electromagnetic field of all of our bodily organs. Instead of our brain dominating our energy field, it’s actually bathed in the field from our heart. In fact, if we’re hooked up to an electro-encephalograph or EEG (a brain-wave reading machine) and we pay attention to our heartbeat, it’s effect shows up more intensively in our brainwaves, so our ability to direct our attention to our body’s energy fields actually does amplify our experience of them.

Let’s take this idea a magnitude further. Other people’s heart-waves also show up in our EEG. We can actually learn to recognize individual heart-wave forms. Think of the intimate involvement of a baby with the heartbeat of its mother or its twin. It’s no wonder that people are often aware of disasters that happen to loved ones, no matter how distant they are from each other.

Think of this. We actually experience the heartbeat of all living things on the Earth, no matter how faintly. Of course, the field strength falls off with distance, but it’s still there.

Now the funny thing is that the world of physics changed completely in the 1930’s. The advent of quantum theory forever changed the way we look at the world. One of the most interesting implications of quantum theory is the idea of non-local effects. Briefly, this means that quantum effects are not bounded by distance or time. For example, take two twin light photons, separate them the full width of the Universe and strangely, when you measure one, you instantly determine the state of the other. They’re inextricably interlinked.

On a human level, this may be part of the reason that experienced healer’s can impact patient’s health even when separated by thousands of miles.

On a local basis, when an experienced healer lays hands on another, there is an electromagnetic field effect that can be correlated with the type of healing required by the patient. Experiments have shown that nerve regeneration is enhanced by frequencies as low as two cycles per second, bone growth is enhanced at 7 cps, capillaries are helped by frequencies of 15, 20, and 72 cycles per second.

Studies have shown that experienced energy healers using various hands-on disciplines increase the magnetic field strength changes of their hands from 80 to 100% when healing is ongoing.

Touch healing works well. I offer the following experience as a single instance of confirmation. I had a friend whose back was bothering him extremely. He had gone through weeks of massage therapy and manipulations and had actually reached the point where he purchased a $2000.00 desk that had hydraulic lifters so that he could work standing up. I was over at his house one afternoon and he was obviously hurting. I asked if I could place my hands on his back for a bit and, as he stood in front of me, I placed one hand on each side of his lower spine in the vicinity of his waist and proceeded to visualize energy flowing from my heart though my arms and into his back. This went on for about 15 minutes until I felt that his back wasn’t absorbing any more energy. I then left for an appointment.

He called about 30 minutes later with a question. It turned out that he’d gone to the bathroom shortly after I’d left and his urine was nearly black. He was alarmed, needless to say. I told him that it was probably some of the toxins that had been held in the cramped muscles of his back. I’d like to say that he was completely cured, but he wasn’t. The good thing was that the massage therapy that he was undergoing on a regular basis began to take effect from that point and he progressively got better. His back still gives him problems on a fairly regular basis, so the underlying problem wasn’t addressed. Even so, the energy caused the release of a lot of the toxins in his muscles and allowed them to begin to relax.

There are healers who specialize in working on humans, animals, and even those who can impact injured plants. It’s even been shown that healer’s can affect the structural dynamics of water. The various disciplines are many: Reiki, Johrei, healing touch, quantum touch, bio-touch, qigong, ayurvedic techniques, quantum healing and many others.

So, if I’ve done my job, you’re now beginning to become convinced that science not only gives us a way and a reason to believe in the reality of energy healing, but also a potential way to understand it. Physics now implies that all existence – everything – is engaged in a constant process of energy wave exchange. Since information is stored in waves and their interaction, it may be safely said that everything that exists is involved in continuous communication. This holds true from the energetic communication of a virus molecule with one of your cell membranes to the communication of the gravity fields of the sun, moon, and stars with the ocean’s tides and the lesser effects on that part of the ocean we hold within us: our blood and other fluids.

Western medicine relies on direct surgical intervention and also on medicine. We take drugs to get the appropriate chemicals into our bodies. The actual chemical reactions which we depend upon to heal us actually rely on the energy associated with the atoms which make up the drug and their interaction with the atoms belonging to the infectious organisms or malfunctioning physical aspects of ourselves which are causing us the problem. We each have over 60 trillion cells in our bodies and each of these cells are energetically engaged in constant communication with all other cells. It’s been shown that stimulation to the bottom of your foot will result in brain wave changes far faster than the actual neural impulse can travel from the foot to the brain.

If energy is involved in our healing in this fashion, can it only come from drug molecules that we introduce into our bodies? As I’ve mentioned above, quantum physics seems to imply that the location of the source of the energy is not as critical as we might think.

What seems to be important is that the energy coming from a healer is directed towards us and that the healer is in a state of mind where there are few outside distractions and little stress. This is why many healers state that they must be centered, connected, or in a meditative state prior to effective healing.

To the skeptic, this centering exercise can seem like a fraudulent process designed to impress the patient. To the uninitiated, it can seem like a ritual that is necessary to invoke outside powers, and, in fact, many energy healers do receive assistance from energy sources that they maintain are on other planes. As for me, I make every effort to get my brainwaves into a slow, theta state. This is also called a hypnagogic state and is similar to the state you move into just prior to sleep. Your brain waves in this state are mostly in the range of 4 cycles per second, which is considerably slower than normal consciousness. I try to reach both high above me for spiritual assistance and to ground myself deeply in the Earth for power.

As an aside note: I’ll provide some meditations useful to get centered in this way in another section of this website.

Remember that there is no such thing as matter. Einstein’s equation: E=MC2 tells us that there is a tremendous amount of energy stored in every bit of mass. Literally, the equation states that the amount of energy in 1 unit of mass is equal to the speed of light squared. If you think about it, you’ll see that this is a huge number. It’s been said that there’s enough energy within the confines of our body to boil all of the oceans on the Earth.

With all of this energy available, it’s amazing that we aren’t more adept at making energetic changes to our world. Jesus said to us, “Because of your unbelief: for verily I say unto you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you.” We seem to be mostly limited by our unbelief in our power. That is our deepest fear; that we are more powerful than we can imagine. We’re afraid to know this, because it implies a standard of behavior that few people are prepared to live up to.

From my own quantum healing training, I know it’s possible to impact the underlying template of our patient’s reality. It involves changing what physicist David Boehm called the implicate aspect of the universe. If this enfolded and non-visible template is changed, then the visible aspect must follow and be changed also. In a simple statement, quantum healers ask God to change the structure of reality so that their patients are cured.

In conclusion, energy healing is an essential property of the reality of our existence. What would happen if thousands or millions of humans, worldwide, would practice energy healing on all aspects of the planet, all other humans, animals, all life, and all inanimate objects on a daily basis? Do you think that this is something from which we might benefit? The Internet has the capability to coordinate this effort and people have tried it before, but perhaps we just haven’t reached a critical mass in terms of the number of people working at improving our world.

I'm not going to attempt to provide links to all of the energy healing methods and sites on the internet, but I've prepared a paper covering a brief introduction to Reiki which you can find here: A Brief Introduction to Reiki - PDF
I'd also like to recommend Quantum Healing training by my instructor, Kim Seer. Kim teaches each series of classes throughout the year, so you could become certified in a year, if you wished. The classes build on the previous information, so they must be taken in sequence. Many students travel thousands of miles to take Kim's classes and, from my own experience, I can truthfully say that she is an extraordinary and gifted woman. Here's a link to her Web-site: Kim Seer - Seer Holistic Health
